THE ARTIST

Third generation San Franciscan RAYMOND MARTINEZ has always been captivated by the natural beauty and cultural richness of his native city.  Raymond began drawing at age 10, when he also joined the San Francisco Boys Chorus and first performed with the San Francisco Opera. He still maintains a busy schedule as a professional classical vocalist.

The great bridges, the Palace of Fine Arts, the Legion of Honor and City Hall are among the structures that have inspired Raymond's lifelong interest in architecture. He has formal training in painting and drafting, but is largely self-taught. Raymond's meticulous illustrations combine pen and ink, watercolor, and colored pencil. This refined technique provides infinite possibilities of color, shading, and perspective.
